About Me

Hi, I'm Jacob. Designer. Husband. Dog Dad. Skier.

This is who I am and my journey.
Hey, I'm Jacob. I'm a designer who believes great design isn't just about making things look good, it's about solving real problems and creating experiences that actually work.

Whether I'm building websites, crafting interfaces, or bringing brands to life, I focus on the sweet spot where strategy meets creativity.

I love collaborating with people who are passionate about what they do and helping them tell their story in a way that connects.

How I got here today

my journey
2016

First creative commission. Captured the Flatirons from Above.

A local real estate agency took a chance on me to film Boulder's iconic Flatirons with my drone. It was my first real client project—nerve-wracking but exhilarating. That feeling of delivering something that exceeded their expectations? I was hooked.

The app development years. Designed & shipped multiple iOS apps.

I dove head first into the world of mobile design, creating and launching several apps on the App Store. From initial sketches to store deployment, I learned UI/UX the hard way—through countless iterations, user feedback, and late nights debugging. Best education I could've asked for.

2019

Gulp. Graduation. B.A. in Media Production, CU Boulder.

Officially armed with a degree from CU Boulder, I was ready to blend my technical skills with creative storytelling. College taught me theory, but I was eager to put it all into practice.

2018-2020

The record label experiment. Founded a label to support songwriters.

Started a record label focused on fair artist compensation. It didn't revolutionize the music industry nor did it succeed beyond my own measure, but it taught me everything about running a business—from contracts to marketing to why cash flow matters. Invaluable lessons that influence how I approach client work today.

2021

Behind the camera. Found my eye for photography.

Picked up a camera and started exploring Colorado through a new lens. From portraits in golden hour to sunrise mountain landscapes, photography became another way to tell stories—this time without words.

Agency life. Led design for over 50 clients.

Joined a marketing agency where I wore every creative hat imaginable. Led web design projects, shot photography, produced videos, and crafted brand identities. Managing this many clients taught me how to adapt my style while maintaining quality at speed.

The Future

The vision and next chapter.
Designing at scale.

I'm chasing projects that matter. Work that reaches people and makes them stop scrolling. Whether it's a startup's first website or a complex enterprise interface, I want to create designs that don't just function beautifully but leave a lasting impression. The goal? Build things that outlive the trends.

My Design Philosophy

How I think about design.
My four core principles.

Good design isn't just about making things look pretty. It's about creating experiences that work for everyone, spark joy, and know when to get out of the way. Here's what guides my work.

Access First

Design isn't doing its job if someone can't use it. I build for everyone—regardless of ability, device, or connection speed. Inclusive design isn't a feature, it's the foundation.

Make It Fun

Life's too short for boring interfaces. Whether it's a subtle hover effect or an unexpected interaction, I believe digital experiences should spark a little joy.

Less, Please

The best design knows when to step back. Give content room to breathe, let whitespace do the heavy lifting, and resist the urge to fill every pixel.

Break Things

The best ideas live outside the rulebook. Sometimes the grid needs breaking or the pattern needs disrupting. Convention is a starting point, not a destination.

What I bring to the table

Years of agency work and personal projects have shaped a diverse skill set. From concept to design, here's how I can help bring your vision to life.

Fun Facts

Beyond the screen

Design is what I do, but it's not all I am. Here's what fills my time and fuels my creativity when I step away from the pixels.

Music enthusiast. My first true and lasting passion. From helping me to escape to helping drive me.
Snow chaser. Skiing and snowboarding whenever Colorado snow calls.
Dog dad. Sadie & Nala keep me grounded (and active).
My wife. My biggest supporter and (begrudgingly) most honest critic.
Coffee newcomer. I know, late to the game. But please welcome me with open arms :)

Thanks for letting me share. Now let's talk about your story.

Enough about me. Now that you know my story, I'd love to hear about yours and perhaps we could collaborate and make something exciting together!
